School has started, so organic food shopping this month included all the standard school lunch supplies.
I got a lit-tle carried away with September’s organic food spending. I ordered some much-needed barley malt powder and sorghum syrup from an online store called ‘Barry Hill Farm’. Cuz you know, everyone needs malt powder and sorghum syrup.
I wanted to try sorghum syrup because I’ve read that it is high in vitamins and minerals. My kids love anything sweet, so I thought it would be a great way to make some sweet snacks while still getting some nutrition into them!
Let me just say, the sorghum syrup is rockin’! I made these yummy 3-Ingredient Sticky Puffed Millet and Sorghum Bars with it.
I really got carried away this month with the adventuresome food shopping. In addition to the above items, I also bought several goodies from a Polish grocery store in Dallas. My friend told me about this store that carries amazing fermented pickles, so that’s why I went.
Once in the store, of course I had to try their horseradish spread, roasted eggplant spread, and one other brand of pickles just to see how they all tasted.
So that explains why we’re over-budget this month.
