Tomorrow’s Saturday ya’ll.
And that means mama’s not cooking. The kitchen is SELF-SERVE on Saturdays!! For lunch I set up a Self-Serve Organic Sandwich Bar!
We use paper plates, of course, so that I don’t have to wash dishes. Actually, I have to admit I kind of go crazy with paper plates on Saturdays and Sundays. We use them for lunch AND dinner on Saturdays PLUS LUNCH ON SUNDAYS!
I know, I know, paper plates are bad for the environment. But I’m tired on the weekends. I choose to take care of me and ignore the earth’s needs.
Besides, the rage of a grumpy mom who has to wash a load of dishes for the one-millionth time in a row can’t be too good for the earth anyway.
So on Saturdays and Sundays, I set out organic lunchmeat, sunbutter, jelly, bread, and salad if we have it along with PAPER PLATES AND NAPKINS, and it’s a free for all. I mean, we get really wild and crazy with our sandwiches! Here is a picture to prove our crazy antics.
I love it when the kids say, “Mommy, I’m hungry.” And I can happily reply, “Go make a sandwich!”
I keep dinner simple too. We usually either grill pre-made grass-fed hamburger patties purchased from Holy Cow Beef, OR I throw some leftover roast beef into the crock pot to make BBQ Beef sandwiches.
Which, by the way, are also self-serve (and organic of course)! 🙂
