I BUY ALL OF OUR ORGANIC MEAT ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY FROM LOCAL FARMS!
I spend an average of $250.00 each month on organic meat. Most of it is actually BEYOND organic, meaning 100% grass-fed/foraged/pastured meat.
This might sound like a lot of money- or meat- or both. But honestly, it often is the main focus of our meals. We have tried eating less meat, but it just doesn’t work for our family. We’re carnivores. We need meat.
As long as it’s grass-fed, chemical and hormone-free, happy animal meat, it’s great for us!
HOLY COW BEEF

Every month, I order our beef from Holy Cow Beef. I email them my order, and they deliver it, frozen, right to my front door! It is so convenient!!
Holy Cow Beef is a ranch in Lubbock, Texas. They have several co-ops in the area, and make monthly deliveries to each co-op or individual in the Dallas area.
A typical month’s order consists of 2 pckgs. pre-made patties (to grill- great Saturday dinner!) , 4 lb. of ground beef, 2 chuck roasts, 2 summer sausages, 1 German sausage (great with sauerkraut!)
My monthly Holy Cow Beef orders total to @ $95.00.
They charge a delivery fee of $7.50 per individual or $10.00 per co-op. I’ve recently started a co-op here in Rockwall, so that we can split the delivery fee.
TRUTH HILL FARM
I order all of our chicken and most of our pork from Truth Hill Farm. Once a month, I email them my order, and then pick it up, frozen, from their delivery location which is just 5 minutes from my house!
Truth Hill Farm is a beautiful farm, just 40 miles from Rockwall. The farmers are the nicest people. And they have great prices on their delicious, organic meats that are 100% grass-fed/pastured.

A typical monthly order consists of 2 whole chickens, 1 pckg. boneless, skinless, chicken breasts (for a quick/emergency meal), 1 pckg. leg/thighs, 8 drumsticks, and 3-4 lb. of seasoned pork sausage.
I usually spend @ $100.00 for my monthly Truth Hill Farm orders.
This includes some raw cheese which my husband and I use for nachos on Sunday nights after the kids are in bed. We’re party animals like that.
Ever month, I order online from Azure Standard. They deliver my order each month, to a location just 10 minutes from my house.
I mostly order our organic pantry products from Azure, but I also order our lunchmeat in bulk from them.
The only lunchmeat we eat is Organic Prairie Smoked Turkey Breast. Sounds boring, I know. But it is so delicious; we don’t get tired of it! The flavor difference between this lunchmeat and your standard smoked turkey lunchmeat is pretty amazing.
And because it’s so flavorful, once slice is enough for each sandwhich. One bulk order costs $70.00, and lasts us 2-3 months. So we spend @ $23.00 per month on organic lunchmeat.
Oink-oink! We love bacon! My husband bakes a slice of bacon for everyone EVERY MORNING! That’s five slices of bacon. Times 30 days. Equals 150 slices of bacon per month (average). So yeah, I buy several packages of bacon each month.
But we buy it from Aldi and it is not organic. 🙁
See, isn’t that a sad picture? Sugar cured. Not organic. tsk-tsk. . . .
I’m hoping to organicize our bacon soon. I’d love to source a bulk supply of smoked bacon from Truth Hill Farm. I’m hoping that if I buy like a year’s supply in bulk, I can get an almost comparable price to the non-organic, highly-processed bacon we buy from Aldi.
It costs $2.50 per pckg., and I buy 7 each month. So we spend @ $18.00 per month on non-organic bacon.
Oh, how we love organic hot dogs! We eat them twice a week; Friday lunch and Monday on-the-go dinner! My kids look forward to their hot dog every Friday for their school lunch. And Mondays we eat dinner in the car on the way home from piano lessons in Dallas. Since I will not buy fast-food, we pack a hot dog dinner instead.
Sound like a lot of hot-dog eating? Remember, we never eat fast food. I figure, it’s healthier for us to eat organic hot dogs every week for dinner than it would be to stop at a fast food place every week.
Trader Joe’s has the best price on these- only $4.99/pckg.! I make a trip to Trader Joe’s once a month to stock up on these bad boys.
I buy 42 organic hot dogs each month. The girls and I each have one for lunch every Friday, and we all eat one (two for the hubby) for on-the-go dinners once each week. Better hot dogs than school lunches or fast food, right?!
So yes- 42 hot dogs. There are 7 hot dogs in each pckg., so I buy six pckgs. @ $5.00 each that’s $30.00 per month on organic hot dogs.
Remember- we spend $0.00 per month on fast food or school lunches!!
Yummy in my tummy.
