Ah, the ’80’s. Those were the good ole’ days. . . oversized T-shirts, fluffy hair/AquaNet, and Orange Juliuses at the mall (juliuses? how do you write the plural form of ‘julius’?) A couple years ago, when I lived in Dayton, an Orange Julius restaurant opened nearby. I was so excited to have a throwback moment in the form of a creamy, frothy, orangey julius. But it was disappointing. It just didn’t have the rich flavor that I remember it having 30 years ago. Ever since then, I’ve been wanting to try to come up with my own version, closer to how I remember it tasting. I finally tried making orange almond julius ( so the kids could enjoy them too!) and it is yummy!!! My recipe inspiration came from here, here and here,
1 cup almond milk
1 cup orange juice
1 cup ice
2 t. sugar (optional-adjust to taste-I don’t like mine too sweet)
1/2 t. vanilla
Place all ingredients into a blender and blend on high until smooth!
