This topic has nothing to do with how much I spent on organic food in April, but let’s talk about dandelions for a sec. I had so many of these bad boys in my yard in April, that I think they deserve a mention. . .
Have you tried eating dandelions? There are quite a few recipes out there for dandelion delicacies. I especially thought the Herb Mentor’s recipe for Dandelion Fritters looked yummy. Supply wasn’t an issue, since I probably had enough dandelions growing in my backyard to feed an army! And they were all organic, since we don’t use any weed killers (obviously ha!) or other chemicals on our lawn. Buuuuut, I somehow never actually got around to picking them and cooking them. And now Spring is almost over and the dandelions are gone. (sad face, slumped shoulders)
However, I did very much enjoy our dandelions in the form of tiny bouquets. I received many a dandelion bouquet accompanied by a sweet voice saying, “Here Mommy, I brought you some flowers!” I love getting those bouquets
and then setting them on the counter until they wilt and I can throw them away without feeling guilty.
I love getting those bouquets
and then putting them in a glass or vase that is way too big for them so that they drown in the water and the kids start crying.
I need to buy some bud vases so that those cute little bouquets have a place to go when they come into the house.
O.K., so anyway, back to how much I spent on organic food last month. . .
