Sometimes the best recipes are the most imperfect ones.
I have fond childhood memories of cozy Sunday evening snacks of cinnamon toast and hot chocolate. So I’m carrying on the tradition with my own kids.
(This picture was not posed-my kids really are this grabby)
This imperfect organic cinnamon toast frequently makes an appearance as an after-school snack. I love using leftover bread for this recipe (aka end pieces). You know, those rejected end pieces that sort of sit around aimlessly.
Cinnamon toast is a great way to breathe new life into old bread! (sorry-cheesy moment)
I use organic cinnamon and sugar. Organic cinnamon tastes so much better than non-organic cinnamon. Yes, it is more expensive-but not much! I buy it in bulk so it really doesn’t cost that much more.
And of course it is ridiculously easy to make! I shouldn’t even be writing a post about it, except that sometimes one just forgets about the simplest things in life.
I like to keep a small container of organic cinnamon and sugar mixture in the cupboard so that when I want to make cinnamon toast, the mixture is ready to sprinkle on the buttered bread.
Earth Balance Dairy Free Buttery Spread

Spread the butter on the bread, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture.
Bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes or until lightly browned on the bottom and edges.
