Now that we’re into 2016, I can finally calculate how much I spent on organic food in 2015! I averaged out all the months’ spending in 2015, and it came out to $1,069.52 average each month.
This average is for groceries only, and does not include eating out. We spend an average of 100$ per month eating out. A typical month of eating out for us would include a date night with the hubby, ordering pizza once, and miscellaneous fast food/coffees on the go.
While it’s more than I WANT to be spending, just over 1000$ per month for an almost 100% organic food diet really is not bad for a family of five.
2015 was the year that we almost completely transitioned to 100% organic food diet.
The only foods that are NOT organic at this point are
- potato chips
- macaroni ( I can’t for the life of me find organic macaroni anywhere!)
- bacon (which we eat every morning, purchased from Aldi)
- pepperoni (Applegate brand, but not organic)
- hot dog buns
- hamburger buns
Mabye 2016 will be the year we make it a truly 100% organic food diet!
